Languages: The on-site part of the program takes place in English. Student off-site semester work however can take place in any language that the student and their self-appointed mentor have in common. All written work must include a synopsis in English. All administrative paper work (including student/faculty evaluations) must be in English. Faculty languages are listed at the end of their biographies.
Locations: The Transart Institute is an international program. Annual summer residencies take place at Donau University, Krems, Austria. Students choose their own off-site locations for semester work. Link to maps and directions. Links to further information about Donau University and Krems.
Travel and Accommodations: Students make their own arrangements for travel, accommodations and meals during the residencies. Some Accomodation can be found here. For the 2005 residency Transart Institute is suggesting the Kolpinghaus, adjacent to the campus. Their website is in German only, but the button "Fotoshow" (top left) has some images. All rooms have small kitchens, refrigerator, TV, and fast internet access. Transart Institute group rates will be 32 Euros per day. Early reservations are recommended. Please mention Transart Institute in you rmail to: campuskrems@kolping.at. Meals: Toni Mörwald, chef of national renown is running a small modern restaurant at the museum Kunsthalle Krems serving contemporary Austrian and international cuisine. The m.restaurant will be serving a two course meal for between 5 and 7 Euros daily to Transart Institute students.
Facilities and Equipment: Semester work takes place off-site, therefore no equipment or facilities are provided for these periods of time. Donau University Krems has a small Mac lab with scanner and color printers which will be made available to students of the MFA program exclusively, however it is strongly recommended students bring their own powerbooks or laptops. Throughout the campus internet terminals are freely available. Students have access to a wealth of digital library resources for their research throughout the year, on- and off-site.
